On the Front Lines of Pro-Israel Activism in America

Advocacy

It is easy to make your voice heard by the politicians and newspaper editors who affect Israel’s survival on a daily basis.

Here are just three of the suggestions from Dan Pollak, Co-Director of Government Relations for the Zionist Organization of America. We hope you will pick at least one and take action.

  1. Try and meet with your Congressman or our Senators. They are all back in the district from time to time and want to hear from constituents. Just remember:
    1. Do your research, before you go to the meeting. See what bills the member has sponsored or signed on to.
    2. Be Polite and Respectful, and thank him/her for the commitment to pro-Israel legislation if that applies.
    3. Stick to two at the most three topics. You can find the Bills that ZOA is endorsing on the zoa.org website. Current priorities are Iran and limits on aid to the Palestinian Authority. Give specific reasons why it is in the Representative or Senator’s best interest to sign on.
  2. Can’t meet in person? Phone calls and letters to your Congressman and Senators are the next best thing. Phone calls, faxes and emails are logged and counted. Every member of Congress has a “contact me” section on their website making it simple to send a message.  You can access this information through the “write Congress” section of the zoa.org website.
  3. Write to local papers. Applaud our members of congress for their positive actions and point out areas where they should support Israel and safeguard its borders and people.
